Virtualization amounts to probably the largest skill gap among those working in IT. Obtaining certification in VMware are therefore becomes one of the best ways to acquire the credibility to tackle gaining skills in this high demand field. Organizations are increasingly relying on virtualization technology, especially to become more geographically dispersed. Virtualization allows the administrator to have systems and applications hosted together on a virtualized desktop or server, across several environments or locations. This means technicians construct or service these computing arrangements have come into high demand.
VMware mastery involves a program of training leading to the VCP (VMware certified professionals) exam, currently the VCP-510, which upon completion delivers the VMware certification. There will also alternate or follow-up certifications known as the VMware certified advanced professional (VCAP), and the VMware certified design expert (VCDX). Certain authorized trainers such as Microsoft offer the Microsoft certified technology specialist (MCTS) certification to demonstrate they are proficient in understanding fundamental concepts across a number of emerging technologies. These professionals are also expected to be able to identify and resolve security threats or other problems that may occur on a given network or IT virtualization system.
The fact that so many companies are basing their operations on Microsoft technologies make the MCTS a very important one to acquire as far as many IT specialists are concerned. In light of the automation involved in many of the technologies an additional certification called the ITIL (IT infrastructure Library), a four level certification focuses on troubleshooting and problem solving issues in the IT field, with an emphasis on attaining greater speed or technical expertise in handling those issues. It is best to receive the training leading to certification at VMware authorized training centers, or courses authorized to prepare trainees for the VCP-510. Among most important resources to train through are Microsoft, Cisco, and other leading computer industry corporations. Several sites have developed, in fact, to assist candidates in completing this and other certification programs.
It’s important to note that the certification provides the knowledge base, but the skills in virtualization concepts will require time and experience to fully acquire. The VCP certification exam concentrates on the large knowledge base needed to proceed in VMware, so that the space can be the foundation for upon to improve skills in handling virtual infrastructure. The exam is conducted by Pearson’s VUE at one of their 3500 testing centers and runs 90 minutes, typically with 75 questions. The candidate will have to wait a week to take the exam again should they fail, and they will no longer be able to take the exam once they pass it.
The result of the training and testing should be to use the certification attained to become an expertly skilled professional in VMware technical concepts and in problem-solving IT issues as they occur in the field. The knowledge base and skill level attained will give that professional value in a field where business and other organizations are increasingly reliant on virtualization to increase the utilization, efficiency and tractability metrics of their hardware computing set up. Such companies are able to afford IT virtualization technicians because of the savings VMware already creates for their systems.
